RTP had the honor of partnering with Longview Power to develop and install an advanced Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization (WFGD) system at their plant in Maidsville, WV.  This vital project aimed to remove ash and nitrogen oxide emissions from the plant, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Our scope of work included the structural design and drafting of the WFGD Service Building, as well as the duct and duct support structures connecting the air heater to fabric filters, fans to absorber, and other critical components.

Working closely with Longview Power, we meticulously designed the WFGD Service Building to accommodate the complex equipment and systems required for ash and nitrogen oxide removal. RTP believed in approaching a project like this with a commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance. Our team also focused on the structural design and drafting of the ducts and duct support structures, ensuring optimal airflow and efficient removal of pollutants throughout the system.

With our expertise in structural design and drafting, RTP played a pivotal role in transforming Longview Power's environmental impact. Our team prepared detailed design drawings in accordance with WAPC (Wet Air Pollution Control) General Arrangements, ensuring adherence to industry standards and project specifications. We actively participated in coordination and project review meetings, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and project success. RTP also provided comprehensive support by approving fabrication detail drawings prepared by others and assisting fabricators and field erectors in resolving any challenges that arose.

This project involved the construction of a two-mile-long conveyor, connecting the South Manchester Mine to the Refinery. The system was driven and controlled by two 1000 H.P. Motor Regenerative Power and Control Systems, ensuring efficient and sustainable operation. RTP provided a comprehensive range of services, including the design of new substations, distribution lines, power supply feeders, protective relaying, control systems, and power distribution infrastructure.

RTP approached the project with a focus on optimizing efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. Collaborating closely with JAMALCO, we designed the Ropecon Conveyor System to ensure seamless material transportation from the mine to the refinery. Our team focused on designing robust infrastructure, including new substations, distribution lines, and power supply feeders, while also integrating regenerative power systems to maximize energy utilization and minimize waste.

With our expertise in electrical design and construction management, RTP played a critical role in designing and implementing the 69KV Toll Gate Substation, 69KV-13.8KV Substation, 69KV Distribution Line spanning 5 miles, and 13.8KV Power Supply Feeders covering 2 miles. We also designed protective relaying systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. Additionally, RTP designed a sophisticated control system that enabled the utilization of generated power in the mine facilities, with the surplus power being sold to the Jamaica Public Service (JPS). Our team further designed 13.8KV to 480V substations for three water booster stations, as well as a comprehensive power distribution system to support the entire infrastructure.

RTP undertook the project with a steadfast dedication to fostering innovation and promoting sustainability. Collaborating closely with American Zinc Recycling LLC, we designed a state-of-the-art Zinc Recovery Plant tailored to their specific requirements. Our team meticulously prepared general arrangement and layout drawings to optimize space utilization and ensure efficient workflows. Additionally, we provided comprehensive foundation and piling design/installation drawings, structural and architectural design/installation drawings, and process/utility piping design/installation drawings to facilitate seamless construction and integration of the plant's various components.

With our expertise in electrical design/installation, RTP ensured the seamless integration of the Transformer & Rectifier AC/DC Bus System, as well as the design and implementation of the ventilation and electrolyte cooling system. Our team also played a critical role in the design and installation of cathode melting, holding, and alloy furnaces, as well as the cathode charging system. Throughout the project, RTP provided meticulous project management services, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to quality standards, and efficient coordination of construction activities.
