R.T. Patterson Company, Inc. (RTP) was incorporated in 1956. It is a privately owned, multi-disciplined engineering and professional services organization which has been successfully serving industry for over fifty-five years. RTP can trace its roots to the early nineteen-thirty's with the Patterson-Emerson-Comstock Company, an engineering and construction company.
Roy T. Patterson, a principal and partner of Patterson-Emerson-Comstock Company, formed what is now R.T. Patterson Company, Inc. in 1956. R.T. Patterson Company, Inc. started working as an engineering and construction company in 1959. In 1963, R.T. Patterson Company spun off its construction business allowing the company to concentrate on the growth of the engineering sector. Over the years RTP has provided services for thousands of projects from small maintenance projects to large greenfield sites for a wide range of customers.
RTP has completed projects for the metals, energy, chemical, glass, manufacturing, material handling, and institutional business sectors. During the late 1970's and early 1980's, the group was a major international engineering service provider to Alcoa for its worldwide expansion in Jamaica, Brazil, Australia, and the United States.
In the 1980's, RTP expanded from its original location in Pittsburgh, opening satellite offices in Highland, Indiana (1983), Evansville, Indiana (1986) and Cleveland, Ohio (1987). Do to changing market conditions the Cleveland Office was closed in 2015 and it's operations merged into the Pittsburgh Office. These offices allow RTP to better serve its customers in these locations.
RTP is proud to have 48 employees during its history that have 25 or more years of service with the company, including one with 50 years.
During the past decade, RTP began an aggressive diversification plan expanding into several other markets. By utilizing our extensive experience in Heavy Metals, RTP has been successful in expanding to the utility/power, manufacturing, transportation, oil & gas, material handling & paper industries.
Since 1963, RTP has grown to one of the largest and leading consulting companies in the Pittsburgh area, and has to this day continued the tradition of engineering excellence.
